I talked to my Doug last night and he said it would be
easy for us to pick up Randy next Wednesday. He works in San
Mateo, so he may just swing by for Randy on his way home. In
any case, we'll be glad to take care of it. I do need to know
where to meet him or at least which airlines he's coming in on.
Also when was he arriving? 8:30??
Hope to see you around soon. I'm beginning work on my
qual articles soon and will be up at the lab more then. How's
the thesis going??

	Jan

Doug: Very glad the decision was so easy. I look forward to having you
around here and think it should work out really great.

Yes, I will be on the reading committee. I think I already said yes to
EAF, but if not you can convey my affirmative.

Sorry, looks like we will not be here when you are house looking. Mid
May takes us to Oregon to give some lectures, then for two weeks at
PARC, then for a week in Mexico before coming home.

Yes, I will keep an eye out for a short term place to rent, so you can
get oriented around here.

To Doug Lenat: Doug: On 19 May we will be en route from Pgh to Oregon to
give some lectures on production systems there. We will not be down to the
Bay Area until about 1 Jun. So don't see any way to make the 19th oral.

Will note it on my calandar, however, in case the situation shifts.

Sorry. Trust it will go well. A.N.

∂24-MAR-76 1428	100 : don cohen (at cmu) via CMUA	the system you described when you were here
I have been meaning to send this since you were here and am only now getting
around to it. I was greatly interested in your talk but very dissatisfied by
the lack of detail concerning how your system really works. I would greatly
appreciate if you could send me such information. If you have it on a file just
let me know where. I am almost willing to look at a program (and will if nothing
else is available).
My real interest is learning, and the subject I have chosen is a learning
theorem prover. Since I aminterested in as many types of learning
as I can get a program to display, you can see that concept formation
(esp in math) wold be extremely useful. Thank you very much, Don.
(P.S. you might send back something with Nori if it's ready soon enough.)

There are five *.xgp files on [myc, krd], containing the first four chapters
and a one-page guide to them. I would have listed them for you, but time
ran out, and I should get a little sleep before taking off. Please list
at our leisure, and make whatever comments come to mind. The last four
will follow soon upon my return
	Thanks.

IE I MAY OR MAY NOT DECIDE TO CONTINUE HERE, IT DEPENDS ON MANY
THINGS. I'M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO RTUXXX RETURNING.
MEANWHILE, I HAVE 2 MONTHS IN WHICH TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF BEING HERE.
ENJOY THE SNOW, SEE WHAT I CAN LEARN...SO I WILL
PROBABLY SEE YOU GUYS FAIRLY SOON. HOPE THINGS CONTINUE TO GO WELL.

Would it be possible for me to run your number theory Thinker a little?
If I can get it to run, I would like to see whether it can be transported
to MIT.

Dear Professor Levy,

I don't mean to be overanxious but I haven't yet been reimbursed by Rutgers
for my plane fare (Rutgers' share was $150). If my last letter to you was
lost or something, I'll mail you another photostat of my ticket. If not,
please either see that I'm reimbursed,or else drop me a note explaining the
delay.

My wife and I will be visiting the East coast this June. We'll be in the
Philadelphia area for a few days, so perhaps we'll drive over to Rutgers
for a visit.

After re-reading this note, I'm not happy with its tone. Let me apologize
for that. Please tell Sri, Jeno, et al to keep in touch.

Regards,

Doug Lenat

Dear Jan,

Here is the message I received from Randy. I assume that 8:45 is a
reasonable pick-up time, outside the TWA arrivals door at SF Airport.
Thanks a million for taking this responsibility off me. This is one
of the few nights during the year when I just couldn't wriggle free.

*Just in case you had it settled, have re-routed things. Will be arriving
*same day (Wednesday, 14 April), but at 8:16PM, TWA 333 [from Alberquerque].
*	Hope this doesn't mess up anything.
*	Thanks
*	Randy

As a postscript, here is a sequence of misc. messages to you:

I hope the four of us can get together soon. Don't worry too much
about those Qual articles. If you need help at the lab, just leave
me a note or call before you come up, and I'll try to stay around. I
have lost track of when the Handbook meetings are; please send me a
note about them.

	Doug
